WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
Jean Monnet, One of the 'founding fathers' of the European Union and founder of the European Movement
"The
fusion of economic functions would compel nations to fuse their sovereignty into
that of a single European state".
3rd
April, 1952
Wim Duisenburg President of the European Central Bank
"From
now on, monetary policy, usually an essential part of national sovereignty, will
be decided by a truly European institution".
Daily Telegraph, 1st January 1999
"The
introduction of the euro and the introduction of a single monetary policy cannot
in themselves be a panacea for the problem of unemployment ... Unemployment can
only really be tackled with structural reforms that aim at making labour markets
more efficient".
"The
process of monetary union goes hand in hand, must go hand in hand, with
political integration and ultimately political union. EMU is, and always was
meant to be, a stepping stone on the way to a united Europe".
Otmar Issing Member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank
"There
is no example in history of a lasting monetary union that was not linked to one
state."
Our note: That's why they want to make the European Union a single federal state
"Making individual members' voting behaviour [in the European Central Bank] public would encourage undesirable scrutiny of members' voting patterns. This, in turn, would encourage external pressures on the Council members arising from local interests".
Our note: This is the reason they give on why they do not want to say how the representatives of the member states vote in the Council of the European Central Bank. How can one be sure that they do not have to vote as ordered by the EU dictators? What do they want to hide?
Hans Tietmeyer Governor of the Bundesbank, Germany's Central Bank
"A
European currency will lead to member nations transferring their sovereignty
over financial and wage policies as well as monetary affairs ...... It is an
illusion to think that states can hold onto their autonomy over taxation
policies".
17th October 1997
Jean-Claude Trichet Governor of the Banque de France
"There
is a tendency to underestimate the fiscal powers and therefore the political
powers available to the Council. The Council will have more power over the
budgets of member states than the central federal institutions have in either
Germany or the United States ..... Yes, there is an element of political union
involved, since fiscal decisions are necessarily political ..... What remains
true is that the political union enshrined in the Maastricht Treaty in the
economic field has no equivalent today in other fields: diplomacy, internal and
external security".
Jose Maria Gil-Robles Former President of the European Parliament
"We
should create an 'own resource' for the Union in the form of a direct income
tax, independent of nationality"
Daily
Telegraph, 25th October 1998
(Our note: in other words he wants to make a tax for the European Union to be deducted directly from the workers wages because we are not crucified enough with taxes ordered by the EU so that its dictators can have money to be merry)
