WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
The European Union ordered that in 2011 the Maltese and Gozitan people pay it €68,000,000
€186,000 daily stolen from your childrens mouths
See how much Malta’s sovereignty has been strengthened?
It is not true that we cannot leave the European Union
See this European Parliament video that we can leave
The
greatest fib that they had managed to make the majority of the Maltese people
swallow prior to the Referendum and General Election of 2003 was that if we
become members in the EU, our country’s sovereignty will not only not be
weakened or terminated but was going to be strengthened.
The false argument that they had brought was that by sharing the sovereignty of our country, not only will we not be reducing it, but we will be strengthening it.
You do not have to be exceptionally wise to understand the falsity of this argument.
It is enough to think that if you have something belonging to you only and decide to share it with others, that thing will not be yours only because it will also belong to others.
If you have a cake and instead of your family eating it, you share it with
others, it is certain that your family will have a much smaller share of that
cake than if you eat it all yourselves.
We of the CNI have always insisted that
entry into the EU would mean the end of the Independence and Freedom of our
country. That is, the end of the sovereignty of the Maltese people.
This happened lately when the European Commissioner for Competition Neelie Kroes
came here which was the greatest proof of how our sovereignty, Independence and
Freedom of our country are only on paper and not in reality.
When
Kroes said that the Government plan for the Shipyard was not acceptable to the
EU, in fact she was telling the Maltese Government that now in our country it is
the European Union that decides what can be done or not.
The Maltese Government is only there to do what it is ordered to do or what it is allowed to do by the EU.
The CNI correctly said that what
Commissioner Kroes said was a humiliation of all the Maltese people.
This for sure is what it is for those who consider themselves Maltese – that we believe are the majority of the Maltese people.
For those who have sold their soul to the EU, what was said by Kroes means nothing.
Perhaps they have even enjoyed it, because they believe that we the Maltese people are not capable of managing our country and need those who are bigger than us to lead us.
What are those who insisted that with membership in the EU Malta’s sovereignty was going to be strengthened going to say when they see that the government that they had voted for is being ridiculed in this manner as it had been ridiculed by Neellie Kroes?
Can it be said that they are considering this insult as a show of how Malta’s sovereignty has been strengthened by membership in the EU?
The more time passes the more the Maltese people shall become aware that they
had fooled them and deceived them by the many promised that they had made to
them prior to the Referendum and the General Election in 2003.
Membership did not strengthen sovereignty!
It surely strengthened the bank account of those who found their place in some European institution.
The TUC is against the decisions of the European Court and the Lisbon Treaty
THE
DELEGATES of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) supported with an absolute majority
a proposal to hold big protests around Europe against the decisions that the
Court of Justice of the European Union has taken, because they consider these
decisions as a fundamental attack on the collective agreement and the right to
strike.
In the same motion proposed by Bob Crow, it was stated that the Lisbon Treaty is going to increase the attacks on the right of trade unions, by giving the EU Court much more new powers.
The rights of trade unions are going to be attacked with the pretext of the “free movement of goods, services and workers in the EU”.
In 2009 the TUC delegates had voted with an absolute majority against the EU Constitution.
Last year they asked for a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
This year the delegates have again confirmed their opposition against this EU anti-democratic project.
Therefore, to shield against this attack on the trade union movement, they agreed to support these measures:
(1) A demonstration and lobbying of the parliamentary members to annul the decision of the EU Court of Justice;
(2) A protest demonstration in all the member states;
(3) To facilitate meetings between members to promote this campaign
In our country no information is given about these serious affairs that badly hit workers unions and the thousands of their members.
Not
a single parliamentary member had spoken about these decisions of the EU Court
of Justice in the
* Viking,
* Laval,
* Rupperts and
* Luxembourg cases
* that have turned the clock back by undermining the trade unions rights in different manners.
No one has spoken because they do not want the Maltese people to hear the not so nice things about the EU.
We again appeal to the Hon. Dr Chris Said, the Parliamentary Secretary responsible for information, to start giving information to the people about the decisions of the EU Court of Justice that we have mentioned.
These decisions are more important for the thousands of workers than the glittering of the EU funds.
He should give information to the people how membership in the block is costing us more than the funds that can come from the EU until 2013.
After that year, God only knows what will happen to the EU funds when our country will no longer be considered to qualify for “Objective 1 status”.
FRONTEX: What I have predicted happened!
By
Eddy Privitera
The last
time that the President of the European Commission Josè Manuel Barroso came
here, Peppi Azzopardi of “Xarabank” phoned me up and asked me whether I wished
to ask a question to Barroso.
He also told me that there will be some four or five others that were going to ask him questions.
I accepted.
I told
President Barroso that in my opinion the
FRONTEX agency is going to serve for more
illegal immigrants to come, instead of reducing them as was its purpose.
I told him that when the FRONTEX patrol boats were going to intercept the illegal immigrants’ boats they were not going to force them to go back to where they had left.
They
were going to pick them up and put them on the patrol boats and take them to the
nearest country.
I told him that I hope that it will not be Malta.
Thus the illegal immigrants will have a better chance of arriving in an EU country than previously, once FRONTEX had no agreement to take them back to where they had left from.
I asked Barroso whether he agreed with my argument. Barroso looked lost on what
he should tell me. He only told me there is a need to find a solution for this
difficult problem.
What I
had predicted to Barroso in fact happened!
This was confirmed by none other than the FRONTEX Chief, Ilka Laitinen, as quoted ion a local English newspaper on 22 September.
Laitinen said that this year a record number of illegal immigrants had entered in Malta and Lampedusa because of the “increased FRONTEX patrols outside Malta and Lampedusa.”
Notwithstanding
these patrols, in the last three years, 6,000 illegal immigrants had entered in
Malta, with 2,500 that have already arrived only this year.
Although the Commanding Officer of the AFM Brigadier Karm Vassallo said that the
patrols held in our sea were nearly all held by the Maltese forces, whatever is
the truth, it clearly appears that
FRONTEX served more to encourage many more
illegal immigrants to leave for Europe from Africa with the hope of finding some
FRONTEX
patrol boat that brings them to the nearest EU country safe and sound, as is the
hope of every illegal immigrant that sails fro the North African Coast.
The Hon. Said did not accept the challenge!
About
a month ago I invited the Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said that after
addressing a press conference during which he mentioned on what projects were
funds allocated by the EU to Malta were being spent, to find time and collect
information about how much is Mata’s membership in the EU is costing the Maltese
people.
At the time I gave him list of points and asked him to inform the public about them. I do not intend to repeat them again. What I am going to do today is to add two other points with those I made about a month ago.
(1) How much
subsidies is the Government paying to the agricultural sector (farmers, herdsmen
etc.) every year because of EU membership? Is it true that they are about Lm7
every year? (I put them down in Maltese liri so that everyone can understand).
(2) How much
interest is the Government paying the debt that the Government is having to
incur on these funds that are supposed to come from the EU for projects, which
funds will first have to be disbursed by the Government until they arrive from
the EU after the projects are finished – which also take some years to arrive
after the projects are finished?
I do not hold high hopes that the Hon. Chris Said is going to inform us also about these two points once he didn’t tell us anything after a whole month about the other points that I mentioned to him.
From
this you can see how they continue to confront the truth on whether Malta is
gaining or not with EU membership.
They can do so because there is no one to confront them and ask in Parliament the information that we the CNI have many times challenged the Government to give to the people.
Why is it that neither the journalists nor the politicians are ready to do so – to insist for an account of how much membership in the UE is costing the Maltese people?
The reason for this silence is that the journalists and the politicians do not
want the people to know that EU membership is costing us much more than we are
taking from it.
