The liberal Capitalist policy implemented by the EU led to the financial and economic crisis that played havoc with its member countries, because that policy does not accept that the finances and the economy be controlled and regulated.
The measures that the EU forced to be taken to overcome the crisis continue to distance the Labour and Socialist Parties from implementing a Socialist policy.
The Labour and Socialist Parties cannot propose Socialist solutions for today’s social and economic problems as long as they remain bound to observe the EU Liberal Capitalist policy.
They can only remember with nostalgia what they had succeeded in implementing during past years when they were free to promote the Democratic Socialist ideology and build a social state and a society of protection and solidarity.
But they cannot propose for the present and future Socialist measures, because these are opposed to the measures dictated by the Liberal Capitalist EU policy.
The EU obliges the member countries to work according to its social and economic policy as explained in its treaties, and mostly in the last Treaty of Lisbon.
One of the main elements of the Liberal Capitalist EU policy is the free
movement of capital, that they shoved down the throat of the Labour and
Socialist Parties by at the same time propagating as another main element the
free movement of workers, as if the workers who go from their country to work in
another country, is as easy as it is easy to transfer money from one country to
another.
The free movement of capital
The
free movement of capital was the main factor that destroyed millions of jobs in
the EU countries, by making it possible for big companies to emigrate from EU
countries to other countries where wages and working conditions are low.
At the same time as the free movement of capital the liberalization of trade occurred in the EU so that the products of the industries established outside the EU with European capital, export to the EU countries their manufactured products without any hindrance and customs duties.
Thus, millions of EU workers lost their jobs as a consequence of these two main factors of the EU Liberal Capitalist policy.
Another element of the EU Liberal Capitalist policy is that the state cannot give ‘state aid’ to the commercial industries of the country, so as not to create obstacles to the free competition of the competitive industries both in the country, as well as in the other EU member countries.

States
used to give aid to industries so that these can continue to operate and keep
their workers in employment.
When the EU stops aid that the state is giving to the industry, it would be terminating the jobs of the workers of that industry.
Thus the EU policy sacrifices the workers jobs for the free competition ideology.
The consequences of this policy are the lay offs of vast thousands of workers in many EU countries, among them Malta.
The EU is happy to implement a policy of paying millions of euros to thousands of unemployed workers in member country, instead of allowing millions of euros to be given to companies to be able to keep the same workers in employment.
It established a Globalisation Fund to compensate the workers who lose their jobs in the EU member cuntries when the companies that employed them go to other countries.
It pays them millions, but does not permit that the millions be given in aid to the comapnies to continue operating and employ the workers.
Market liberalisation

The
EU liberal capitalist policy also does not permit teh state to give protection
tot he local industry, both to protect jobs, as well as to reduce the amount of
money leaving the country and not remaining to circulate in the country’s
economy.
The Labour and Socialist Parties contrary to the EU policy, have an interest to increase industry that works for the local market, and for this purpose are prepared to give direct aid to local industry, and to give an amount of protection to locally produced products, even by means of customs duties on imported competing ptroducts.
With the EU policy of market liberalisation, foreign producers gain, and local market producers suffer, and with them, suffer workers who lose their jobs due to the reduction in the sale of local products.
Another important element of the EU Liberal Capitalist policy is the belief in privatisation.
The EU does not want profit from commercial activities to go directly to the people by means of state enterprises.
It
wants profit to go to the few who have the capital so that they continue to
increase their wealth.
That is why the EU does not allow the State to be a bank owner, even though these work with the peoples money that they deposit with them.
But then when banks find themselves in difficulties, the UE insists with the States to give them vast millions to save them.
And the EU insists with states to introduce austerity measures so that the people will make good for the millions that the States would have pased on to the private banks.
The Labour and Socialist Parties have completely different beliefs from that of the EU about privatization.
They believe that it is just the that people in general should be allowed to benefit from State commercial activities, or that the State has a justified share in them, and that this can be done without the private sector being denied to operate without hindrance.
The Labour and Socialist parties ended up supporting the concept of ‘public private partnership’ by marrying the interests of the private sector with the profit that the people can benefit from by the participation of the state in mixed enterprises.
But the EU is not in favour of this concept because it insists that all commercial activity should only be left in the private sector hands.
Apart from these factors that separate the Socialist belief from the European Union liberal Capitalist policy, there are other great divergences between them that are creating obstacles for the parties from implementing required social and economic measures to build a just and democratic society, particularly in the social services and essential services sectors.
A Socialist Policy is irriconcilable with the EU Liberal Capitalist policy.
The EU and the Banks
The
European Union does not allow a State to be a banks owner, even though they work
with the peoples money that they deposit their money with them.
But then when the banks find themselves in difficulties, the EU insists with the states to give them vast millions to save them... as happened in Greece.
The European Union youths are against the American Capitalism
By By Charles Micallef, Campaign for National Independence CNI
The
European Union needs to remain distant from the savage American Capitalism that
causes great harm to the European working class.
The EU needs to again embrace the concept of a Social Europe that was born in many European countries prior to joining the Union, and which created a balnce between the Capitalist system and the Democratic Socialist system.
Presently in many EU countries, as is happening in other countries around the world, youth movements are being established to fight American Capitalism.
They do not want the EUropean countries to become jungles where the strong move forward, and those who are weak remain weak in a corner waiting for death.
These modern youth movements are fed up with the big multinational companies and corporations that do whatever they want with the workers, with the people and environment where they are present.

These
new European youth movements are fed up seeing the Euopean Capitalists
encouraging and defending illegal immigration that is providing cheap labour and
being a means of greater profit for the owners that employ them, while the
European youth have to register for work and see foreign immigrants exploited by
the owners who make a lot profit from them.
The EU youths do not want to see their countries bound with the American political train, that carried with it some of the EU countries in the invasion of Iraq and in the Afghan war, and which now is about to exit from the first country and is going to have to do the same from the second in a short time.
It will be
good if the United States also retreats from Latin American countries, so that
they will also be free from the American hegemony which does not allow them to
stand on their feet, and thus will be better when they put aside the
interference of the American policy by means of the CIA.
The EU youths are understanding that although the American Capitalism dismantled the Soviet Communists, Russia and the United States do not see eye to eye in many sectors, and later may have a cold war between them.
The EU youths neither want their countries to be the slaves of Mr American Dollar.
The
EU youths know that today before tomorrow the EU should be separated from the
American policy in the Middle East, so as not to be involved in a war against
Iran, that Israel and the United States will start by attacking the nuclear
plant that was built with the help of the Russians and which has just started
operating last month.
An attack on Iran means an attack on the Islamic world, and it is not right that Israel and the United States involve in their troubles with the Islamic world the European Union countries.
The EU youths understand that it is better for the EU not to be aligned with the United States of America and it is better to be neutral.
They do not understand why the United States and Israel have these nuclear weapons as also have some EU member countries, why other countries should be denied even from nuclear energy for non-military purposes.
The youths ask:
if nuclear Iran may be a threat to other countries, Israel with around 200 nuclear bombs is not a threat? Why is the European Union discriminating between the Israelis and the Iranians?
The EU youths are seeing that the American Capitalism wants to rule everywhere and even contaminated the Chinese Communists, who now appear that for them the economy comes first, then equality and social security, which means that capital comes before the workers.
That is why there is a need for all the EU citizens (including us Maltese as long as we remain in the EU) not to allow the EU to become an integral part of American Capitalism.
We should remember that two years ago this brought a financial disaster around the world which has still not recovered from it, and that it is the workers in many EU countries that are suffering the shortcomings and carrying the burdens to repair the damage that was caused by the defrauding and socially irresponsible Capitalism
