WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
The European Union ordered that in 2011 the Maltese and Gozitan people pay it €68,000,000
€186,000 daily stolen from your childrens mouths
The EU burdens more the low-income persons
It is not true that we cannot leave the European Union
See this European Parliament video that we can leave
The European Union does not want any measure of control of prices that do not allow the market operate regularly by means of free competition to ensure the cheapest prices.
At
the same time the Union increases the lower prices by taxes that it orders its
member countries to make
* on products and services,
* such as the Value Added Tax (VAT),
* the levies on oil products and
*
the environmental tax (Eco Tax).
These indirect taxes that the European Union insists to be made increase the
cost of living for everyone but burden more those who have a low income and uses
all income to be able to support the family.
If
we consider what happens in the case of VAT, we find that those on the minimum
wage pays 18 percent of it in VAT, notwithstanding that everyone agrees that
whoever is on the minimum wage, should not pay any income tax.
That is why the VAT on essential products and services and other similar taxes,
that the European Union so much likes, are anti-social because they burden more
those who cannot afford them in society, while they do not burden as much those
who can afford them.
If from a person who has an income of only €100 you take 18 of them by VAT, he
will feel them much more than a person who has an income of €1,000 and you
take €180 of them from him by VAT, because the last one will have €820 still
remaining, while the other will only have €82 remaining with which to live.
The European Union does not care from the social impact of indirect taxes that
it imposes on the people, because for it what is important is that they are the
best means of how the Government increases its income, while at the same time
they are the best means of ensuring more income to the sellers of products and
services.
The Union, the governments, the sellers of products and services know and
benefit from the fact that the more they increase the price or service, the more
will the amount of tax collected, as well as the amount of profit made on the
product sold or service given.
When the VAT is 18 percent and the rate of profit for the seller of the product
or who is giving a service is ten percent, if the value of the product or
service is €100, the Government gets €28 from VAT and the seller of the
product or service makes a profit of €10.
But
if the value of the same product or service increases to €150, the Government
gets €27 from VAT and the seller of the product or service makes a profit of
€15.
This shows that for the Government and the sellers of products and services, the
higher the prices the better it is for them because they make more profit, the
opposite of what is best for the consumers, the people in general.
The
European Union knows all this and wants all this and its share from VAT will be
greater the greater the amount collected.
The
Union is not seeking the interests of the consumers – of the people in general
– when it insists that there should be no form of price control which are
fixed by the market and free competition.
The result of this European Union policy is that the prices always increase, the
governments get more income from taxes, the sellers makes more profit and the
share of the European Union from tax will be greater, while the people are worse
off.
There
is no other word than vileness
by Eddy Privitera
On
Thursday 20 March, there was the news that the Government had again made Malta a
member in the Partnership for Peace of the European Union.
The
Labour Government in 1996 had taken Malta out of this military organization in
its first days.
In
the title of this write up I have describes the decision of the Government as
“vileness” because of these reasons.
First
– The Prime Minister had known for a long time what he was going to do if he
wins the election.
Not
only, but it is certain that he had informed the European Union a long time ago
what he intended to do.
Secondly
– The Prime Minister was in office for four years but did not make Malta a
member in the Partnership for Peace, but left it until the election had
passed.
The reason is crystal clear.
He
was afraid that if he did so, he would have found harsh criticism and thousands
of voters would have, especially parents of those in the Armed Forces, would not
have been happy and therefore there would have been the possibility that he
would have last their votes.
Thirdly – This decision was nowhere to be seen in the Nationalist Party electoral programme.
Notwithstanding this fact, it was the first decision that the new Cabinet took.
Is it possible that as a place had been found for 353 electoral promises, another one could not have been added that they will make Malta a member in the Partnership for Peace?
It is this hiding from the people of what he intended to do but knows that will not be popular with the voters, while only showing that which blinds the eyes and attracts votes, such as the promise of five energy savers, which forces me to use the word «vileness».
I cannot understand why they are not ashamed to mention the word «Partnership», when for the Government the word «Partnership» does not exist in the European Union dictionary.
If therefore it exists in that which has to do
with military associations of the European Union, does it not also exist with
that which has to do with trade, with relations with countries outside the
European Union, in the education sector and many other sectors ?
This first Government decision prior to even the
Parliament having been constituted and on the eve of Good Friday when newspapers
are not issued, certainly shocked many people.
I consider this decision as a mirror of what is coming for the Maltese people in the first two or three years of this legislature.
Whoever believed the billboard «Your mind at rest»,
is going to become aware that his mind will be more troubled than resting.
And really, if for the Government, the fact that it has again made Malta a
member in a military organization of the European Union, does not breach the
neutrality of our country, when the soldiers will be forming part of the Italian
military contingent, which certainly is not a neutral contingent, can the
Government tell us what it understands by the word «neutrality» ?
The Partnership for Peace – a military alliance
Dr Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici
The government is going to breach the Constitution
of Malta.
Because the Constitution states that Malta shall refuse to take part in military alliances.
The Government is going to make Malta a member of the NATO military alliance Partnership for Peace.
Therefore, the Government is going to breach the
Constitution.
The statement the Government has issued about the participation of Malta in the
Partnership for Peace hides the real meaning of the grave step for the
protection of our people.
It
was the statements about this fact by the representatives of the United Kingdom
and the United States of America that gave the true meaning of this step and
uncovered the hypocrisy of the Government statement.
The British High Commissioner Nick Archer is reported to have said about
Malta’s participation in the Partnership:
“The key thing for us is that Malta will be able to participate more fully in European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) activity, which means that it can in future make a bigger contribution to keeping Europe safe and to the EU’s effort to create a more peaceful world”.
Then according to the British Commissioner, the participation of our country in the Partnership means that Malta will participate more fully in the EU security and defence policy and is going to help to increase security in Europe.
Naturally our country is going to do this with the military contribution that it is going to give.
The
Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the United States
said:
“The United States welcomes Malta’s decision to request reactivation fo its cooperation with NATO’s Partnership for Peace (PfP) and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council. These institutions make a valuable contribution to Euro-Atlantic security and dialogue. PfP has effectively strengthened relationships between states in Europe and North America, increased cooperation and underlined our common commitment to democratic principles”.
This statement by the American Under Secretary Daniel Fried, clearly shows that whoever takes part in the Partnership, would be contributing militarily for the European and Atlantic security.
It
also uncovers that Malta is going to participate in the Euro-Atlantic
Partnership Council, which also has among its aims, a military and security
scope.

There
is no doubt that the Partnership for Peace is a military alliance.
So much so that the Armed Forces of Malta are going to participate in it.
There is also no doubt that its aims are military and its operations are military.
It
is because of its military nature that our country cannot participate in it if
it does not want to breach the Constitution of Malta.
The Government is breaching the Constitution which it had sworn to be loyal to.
