CNI appeals for the start of the second fight for Independence
Today,
on Independence Day, we are not celebrating but remembering what we had and what
they have taken away with treason, when with membership in the European Union,
Malta did not remain independent.
This
is what was stated in a press release distributed yesterday by the Campaign for
National Independence CNI
after the laying of a wreath at the Independence monument in Floriana.
The wreath was placed by the members of the committee of the same Campaign led
by the chairperson the ex-Prime Minister of Malta Dr Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici.
“We appeal to the Maltese and Gozitans that treasure our people and liberty to start the second fight for the Independence and Freedom of Malta”.
The
press release continued to state that with membership Malta ended up as part of
a new state, made up of the 25 member states, led by 25 commissioners 24 of whom
are not Maltese, and with laws approved by a 732-member Parliament, only five of
which represent the Maltese people.
Just the same as the 1964 Independence was shackled by a financial agreement and
a military agreement with the British Government, today this Independence
strengthened by full Freedom acquired in 1979, is being ceded by the Membership
Agreement signed on 16 April 2003.
The press release continued to state that the denial of the political and
constitutional rights of the Maltese people is being sealed with the
ratification of the European Constitution.
CNI
explained this Constitution as
“trampling
upon the Maltese Constitution, disrupts the neutrality of our country and makes
fun of the Maltese peoples Parliament."
That is why the CNI
is not only protesting but is swearing to continue to work so that what was lost
by the Maltese people shall be acquired back.
In a comment that he gave after the ceremony, Dr Mifsud Bonnici said that the
membership agreement does not bind Malta because it is vitiated and acquired
through deceit by false promises and undue interference by the EU while the
people were deciding on membership.
He said that it will not be long before the people shall become aware and shall start to agree that Malta should leave from its membership in the EU forthwith.
