WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
In the seven years 2007 – 2014 the Maltese and Gozitans are going to pay the European Union €420,000,000
Propaganda blitz similar to that prior to the referendum!
Exactly as they had done prior to the 2003 referendum and general election, they are doing again about the adoption of the Ewro in our country, notwithstanding that we have no choice but to adopt it, whether we want to or not.
We have no choice!
Every day in all the newspapers, magazines, booklets, even those that are
distributed in churches, there is a constant blitz to convince the Maltese and
Gozitan people that the introduction of the EU currency is going to bring us
great benefits because it is “in the interest of us all”!
The Government is even distributing a booklet about the introduction of the Ewro to students in all our country’s schools!
Even all this is not enough, because they are also going
to give a calculator to every family!
We’ve seen the advert that appeared in “Flimkien” (Together”) that is
distributed in all the parishes in Malta and Għawdex.
The advert says:
“The Ewro: facts and advantages” (they do not mention the disadvantages).
The mentioned
advantages are these:
1. “You
can instantly compare the prices in local shops with those in other
countries”.
Our
comment – Naturally, when you go abroad to countries that have the
Ewro.
But in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and the rest of the world countries, including the European ones – some 178 other countries, you cannot do so.
If we calculate that one goes abroad for only one week in a year, then the “benefit” is only going to be for one week.
During the other 51 weeks it is going to be very difficult
to compare the prices in Ewros with the prices as they were previously in the
Maltese lira!
2.
“The traders will find it easy to compare the expenses when they are
trading”
Our
comment – The same story.
They find it easier when they are trading with the other 22 countries that will be in the Ewro zone in 2008.
With the other 178 countries the story will remain the
same as it was before, if not worse, because the Maltese government is not going
to have any control on the currency, that is, the exchange rate, etc.
3.
“It creates the same conditions for trade in the Ewro zone.”
Our
comment – We always hear that trade is now “globalised”.
What is it worth then to have the same conditions with the Ewro countries when with the rest of the world it will be better if we have control of our currency (as we have already explained) when instead we will now have no control?
And this can greatly affect trade with the rest of the
world – especially imports – because the Ewro may be too high in value, as
it is presently.
4.
“It strengthens consumer confidence.”
Our
comment – We do not know where they have found this fib, because
when you talk with any tourists from countries that have already adopted the
Ewro, they all tell you that the Ewro brough them great increases in prices!
Are the Maltese consumers then going to be the exception?
• Why then do the British, the Danes and the Swedes not want
to adopt the Ewro in their countries?
• Why are the economies of these countries better than those
of the Ewro countries?
• Why is it that the economic consultant of the President of
the European Commission, Juan Manuel Barroso himself, is predicting that the
Ewro will disappear in 10 to 20 years time?
• Why are well-known European politicians admitting that the
Ewro currency was more a political decision than an economic one, because in an
economic sense there are great disadvantages because of the diversity that
exists in the economies of the member countries?
• And if there were all these benefits that they are
mentioning in the propaganda blitz, why does the EU impose on every new European
Union member country that the Ewro shall have to be adopted? Do they fear that
there will be other people and governments that will do the same as was done by
the British, Swedes and Danes??
They
do not know how much were foreign workers paid!
The Labur deputy Silvio Parnis asked in Parliament to the “bets” Minister Austin Gatt, how much were the foreign workers that were brought to work in the Shipyard, the majority of which were brought from Bulgaria, paid.
The answer by Minister Gatt is one that should bring a strong reaction from those who always speak about “transparency”, human rights and especially workers.
The Minister’s answer raises more questions than it answers the question made
by Silvio Parnis.
For example, can it be that these workers are being paid less than the minimum wage that we have in our country?
We are asking this because the Minister answered that,
“He does not know because notwithstanding that the Malta Shipyards is employing these workers, it would not know exactly how much these foreign workers were actually paid. This is because these workers are paid directly by that company that had been contracted by the Malta Shipyards!!!
Apart from this system giving rise to abuse for the exploitation of thousands of workers, we also have to ask the Minister:
Therefore, if the Shipyards do not know how much they are being paid, then neither does the Government.
And
if the Government doesn’t know, neither does the Income Tax Department,
isn’t it?
We also ask:
then was it a wise decision that instead of Maltese workers who pay income tax and social security contributions we bring foreign workers who pay nothing, while the Maltese workers became a burden on our country’s social expense?
It
it with these obscenities that you want Malta to become “competitive” Mr
Gatt?
“Are
we better off with Malta in the EU”?
Result:
77.7% no –
22.3% yes
The above was
a televoting question during the programme “B’kull dritt” conducted by Mr
George Tabone, on Smash TV on Wednesday, 29 November.
Discussing this subject were the Labour Party representative, another from the
Nationalist Party together with representatives from CNI and ANR.
The result, as we can see above, was one that surely burst the bubble that was inflated by Joanna Drake when she said a while ago that now “the people are feeling comfortable” in the EU!
We do not know how confortable is Joanna Drake feeling today after the televoting result was announced during the programme “B’kull dritt”!
This result should encourage the hearts and the determination of the many thousands of Maltese and Gozitans who like us believe that the best way forward for our country is to get back the independence and sovereignty of our country.
Two weeks ago on this page we mentioned several parties in Europe that are very critical of the EU.
And there are among them those who want their country to leave the EU if the EU does not revert back to its initial position when it started - a union of countries who cooperate with each other in the economic and commercial sector.
Im Malta it appears that notwithstanding that the propaganda in favour of the EU is conducted on a daily basis, all this is not having the effect that the EU apostles or servants in our country want.
On the contrary, the contrary is happening!
That the European Union did not say anything about the Hungarian Prime Minister who admitted that he had lied to the Hungarian people in order to win the last March election.
But in Ukraine and Belarus, for example, the EU interfered very widely for the government to be changed and to have a government that will be ready to serve the EU interests!
