WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
The European Union ordered that from 1 January 2009 the Maltese pay the European Union €153,400 daily
Malta in Europe but outside the EU
Now
that the election for the European Parliament has passed, we can speak more
clearly without obstructing the voting process.
We are not against Europe, but against the European Union.
Europe is not the European Union.
There are around 20 other countries in Europe who are not members in the Union.
To be the best country in Europe, we do not need to be members in the Union.
The best two European countries – Switzerland and Norway – are outside the Union.
Both have kept their currency and did not introduce the euro.
They are neither lagging nor isolated.
They are stronger than the best EU countries.
Our country is in Europe not because it became a European Union member.
It was in Europe before it became a Union member.
It remains in Europe when it shall again be outside the union because Malta is geographically part of Europe.
Not to be an isolated people in Europe, we do not need to be part of the European Union.
We
have been part of the Council of Europe for years which has its seat in
Strasbourg, next door to the European Parliament.
Maltese Ministers and Members of Parliament from both sides of the House take part in the Council of Europe meetings.
The Council of Europe has the European Court of Justice in Strasbourg that decides cases on the breach of fundamental human rights.
One of the Judges of the Council of Europe Court is Maltese.
The aims of the Council of Europe are to protect the democratic system and the
fundamental human rights.
In Malta we enjoy the benefits of a democratic system, of the protection of law
and the respect for the human fundamental rights and freedoms, not because we
are members in the European Union.
Our people acquired these civil benefits before the European Union spread its yoke on Malta, and there is no need for the Union for the Maltese people to defend these acquisitions so as to continue enjoying them.
Because we are against membership in the European Union, it does not mean that
we are against Europe or the friendship and cooperation between the peoples of
Europe.
We are against Malta’s membership in the Union because this brought us more burdens than it gave us benefits and because we did not remain independent and free.
We are against membership in the Union both because of the manner in which it is managed,
* as well as because the union embraces the wrong economic and social policy
* that burdens the peoples small sectors and
* increases the inequalities between those who benefit from the Union wealth
* and who is denied it,
* as is happening in our country.
These
reasons do not let us to resign ourselves that Malta remains politically a
colony of the European Union,
* denuded from the sovereignty of and independent and free country,
* where the will of the majority of the Maltese people is worthless
* in front of the majority of the countries of the European Union countries
* who decide themselves how our country is administered,
* even against the interests of our people.
That is why we are
not happy with Malta in Europe as long as Malta is not out of the European Union.
Foreigners influence the election results
FOREIGNERS from the European Union countries living in Malta, vote in the elections for the European Parliament as the Maltese persons who live in the other Union countries vote in those countries.
But the number of Maltese persons in the other countries is insignificant compared to the size of the population of those Union countries, and therefore cannot influence the voting result.
But in the case of Malta,
* a few hundred foreign voters can mean which candidates are elected
* and from which political party they will be.
That is why the voting results in our country would depend on the foreign voters.
This is bad for our country, and is happening because this is wanted by the EU.
The
European Union has the aim that in the future,
* foreigners from the Union residing in our country
* will have the right to also vote in the election for the Maltese Parliament,
* and that the illegal immigrants who are given refugee status
* and those who are given humanitarian status
* would also have the right to vote.
There is no doubt that these steps totally disrupt the political situation in our country
* because whoever is elected in Government to administer our people
* would depend not on the Maltese and Gozitans,
* but on the votes of the illegal immigrants considered as refugees
* and of those given humanitarian protection.
Then it could surely be said that our destiny is no longer in our hands due to the EU’s fault.
Toxic Waste and poison from the European Union

The
European Union wants an incinerator that burns waste in our country, and the
Maltese Government has accepted to make one in the southern part of Malta,
probably near Marsaxlokk.
To be efficient and economically justifiable, the incinerator has to operate non-stop.
But our country does not generate enough waste for the incinerator to work non-stop.
That
is why it is being said that we shall have to import waste from other countries
to be incinerated in the incinerator that the EU wants us to make with the help
of its funds.
Major EU countries have found out that it is worthwhile to export their waste to other countries rather then incinerating it themselves.
They encourage and help other countries to set up incineration pants that generate energy, and they are given waste to generate energy with it.
But it is not the first time that the most poisonous waste that causes great problems for peoples’ health has been sent.
That is why the Basle Convention on the Trans-boundary Movement of Hazardous waste was concluded.
We have to be attentive that on the pretext of the granting of funds, the EU does not put us in a position of importing the poisonous waste of the other European Union countries for the incinerator to produce energy for us.
Illegal Immigration
The elections that were held for the European Parliament are not going to solve the problems of our country, among them illegal immigration.
During
the last fortnight of the electoral campaign it was announced that the EU had
decided that there is to be a burden sharing pilot project for Malta, and that
the Frontex missions will be strengthened by Frontex helping in the repatriation
of immigrants.
It was also said that they are going to examine the proposal that the investigation of immigrants be carried out before they leave Libya, to find out who merits to be considered as a refugee or given humanitarian protection.
There are many things that can be said about every one of the three proposals.
As regards the burden sharing pilot project there are fundamental objections that this is a measure that encourages more illegal immigrants to come to Malta with the hope of being sent to the big European countries.
About
the proposal that Frontex to help in the repatriation of illegal immigrants, it
should be said that Frontex should
* first of all not let the illegal immigrants boats from proceeding towards Europe,
* not helping them to arrive safe and sound in our country
* and other European countries as it is doing.
Then, the third measure that it wants to hold an investigation of illegal immigrants before they leave Libya does not answer the question:
who is going to take care of the immigrants that result that they are to be considered as refugees or merit humanitarian protection?
Which Union countries are going to take them?
If
this proposal had to be implemented,
* millions of immigrants from African countries would go to Libya
* with the hope of being considered as refugees
* or given humanitarian protection.
With the manner that the EU treated the illegal immigration problem up to now, it appears that it does not want immigration to be subdued, because the Union needs immigrants.
From
our side,
* Malta needs to subdue illegal immigration,
* and therefore we need to move in a different manner from the Union.
We should take measures that totally discourage illegal immigrants from coming to Malta.
The greatest measure is not to keep them here, under no pretext and for no reason.
We should send them back from where they had come, or allow them to continue to go in Europe.
We must do what is good for our country and not what the EU wants.
A condemnation for the EU policy
The reduction in the percentage of voters in the last election for the European Parliament witness the reduction of popular support for the European Union, notwithstanding the millions that were spent in propaganda in favour of the Union.
The
result of the votes means a condemnation for the Union policy implemented by the
Maltese government
* on the employment sector,
* the cost of living increase,
* on privatization
* and about illegal immigration.
The
majority of the Maltese and Gozitans do not agree with the EU that forced the
Government to destroy the employment of 1,700 Shipyard tradesmen.
There was not need for this national disaster of the trades’ university in our country so that no more subsidies are given to the Shipyard.
It
should have been given efficient management.
The majority also does not agree with the EU that is forcing the government
* to take the Public Transport work from the hundreds of char-a-bancs owners
* to give it by tender to one contractor probably a foreign one.
The people cannot agree that to abide with EU rule,
* we give permission to some 4,000 workers from other Union countries
* to work in our country and take the bread of a similar number of Maltese workers.
The
majority of the people do not agree that to satisfy the EU,
* the Government did not continue to pay part of the expense for the essential services of water and electricity from the taxes it collects
* instead of increasing vastly their rates.
The people do not approve the privatization policy that the UE is imposing on the Government.
It can be said that nearly all the people condemns that EU policy on illegal immigration that the Government has to follow,
* which resulted in thousands of illegal immigrants that we have among us,
* who are a big economic burden for us.
That is why the 6 June vote was a great condemnation for the EU policy that the Government is implementing in our country.
Thursday 11 June 2009.
