WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE

CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers

and against Malta's membership of the European Union

WE SWEAR TO FREE MALTA FROM THE SLAVERY, COLONIALISM AND DICTATORIAL ILLEGAL EUROPEAN UNION RULE

TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM

 The European Union ordered that as from 2010 the Maltese and Gozitan people pay it €182,192 daily stolen from your childrens mouths

Cost of living will be reduced out of the EU

For Malta to be among the best countries of Europe it must leave the European Union (EU).

The best countries –

* Switzerland and

* Norway –

* are not in the Union.

Similarly Malta must not be shackled by the policy and regulations of the EU to be able to reach their levels.

There are a number of small countries in Europe who did not become members in the EU and they are also doing well while they continued to enjoy their independence and freedom.

Among these there is

* Greenland,

* Lichtenstein,

* Andorra,

* Monaco,

* Gibraltar

* and the autonomous Islands of the United Kingdom,

* the Channel Islands,

* Jersey and

* Guernsey.

Like these Malta and Gozo can be out of the Union while forming part of Europe.

Like them

* our country can be

* independent and

* free

* and not led by the Union.

They are not isolated because they are not in the European Union, and neither Malta, when it leaves, will be isolated.

It is not true that once Malta became an EU member cannot leave from it.

The island of Greenland was a member and when it took its autonomy from Denmark, did not remain in the Union.

With the EU

* Greenland now has an agreement not of membership,

* but of friendship that

* permits it to move forward with the best policy for it,

* not that of the Union.

Another agreement with the Union

As was done by Greenland,

* Malta can also not remain in the EU

* and can make a friendship and

* cooperation agreement with it

* that would protect the interests of the country,

* not like the membership agreement

* that Mata made with the Union,

* that first protects the interests of the Union and

* not those of the Maltese.

Now that the Lisbon Treaty has entered into effect, certainly no one can say that Malta cannot leave the Union.

Because the Lisbon Treaty says black on white, in Article 49A, that

"Every member can decide… to leave the Union”.

According to the same article,

* when Malta tells the Union with its intention to leave,

* the latter has two years

* to negotiate and conclude with Malta

* an agreement on the leaving from full membership

* that drafts the future relations of Malta with the Union.

The treaty also provides that if then Malta would want to enter again, it could ask to become again a member.

It is better for Malta to leave

Therefore once there is no issue whether Malta can leave the European Union, there remains only the question whether it is better for Malta to do so.

Those who insist that Malta will fall backwards if it does not remain in the EU always mention the millions that the latter promised to give to our country.

But they never remind us how many millions we as a country are paying to the Union,

* and always hide how many millions Malta is spending in expenses

* to keep up with what the Union wants from us.

What the propagandists in favour or Union membership do not remind us of is stated by the official estimates of the Government every year.

According to the estimates,

* in the first of membership (2004),

* the EU “sucked” from the Maltese people                                                  €32,871,104;

* in 2005 it took from us                                                                                   €51,562,900;

* in the following year                                                                                       €51,655,989;

* in the year 2007 “it scrounged from us”                                                       €53,164,031;

* last year we paid to the EU coffer                                                                 €63,937,324;

* and this the estimates forecast that the Union is going to take from us     €56,000,000,

* but today it is still not known how much more it is going to take.

All this means that since we became members we are going to have paid a total of €376,291,348 to the European Union.

A lower cost of living increase is easy

All those of millions of euros are paid from the taxes paid by the Maltese and Gozitans, and therefore when we do not remain members we will save by not continuing to pay them to it.

When Malta leaves the EU the Maltese and Gozitan families shall be able to see a huge reduction in the cost of living increase if the tax that the Union imposed to be introduced in our country is removed.

And the prices of products and

* services

* upon which VAT is paid

* will be lowered by the removal of the 18% VAT.

If this were to happen,

* with the removal of this tax imposed by the EU,

* in the year 2010

* the local families will save the amount of €494,720,000,

* that according to the official estimates

* are going to be collected

* on the products and

* services that are going to be paid next year.

Thus when Malta leaves the Union,

* the cost of living can be lowered a lot

* and the sufferings of the many families will be decreased

* who cannot keep up with the cost of living

* since our country has become a member in the EU.

These are a few examples of how it is better for the Maltese people not to remain members in the Union.

There are many other advantages that we shall have occasion to mention later on.

Movement for Independence and Freedom

Thousands of Maltese and Gozitans are against membership of Malta in the European Union.

Notwithstanding this fact, the political leaders frequently say the now everyone in our country agree with membership.

Indeed, lately, three ex-Presidents of the Republic bragged about this.

But the political leaders,

* the ex-Presidents,

* as well as the media that play the same tune,

* are living a lie

* because not everyone in our country

* wants to remain under the EU yoke.

The thousands that do not agree with membership in the Union have a right not to be disregarded.

They strongly believe that EU membership made the Maltese people lose Independence and Freedom, and that the people no longer have their destiny in their own hands.

They see that the Maltese Parliament

* is no longer implementing the will of the majority of the Maltese and Gozitans,

* but what the majority of the EU countries say and decide,

* even if this is not in the interests of the Maltese people,

* and that is why the Maltese Parliament is no longer sovereign.

Against UE policy

The thousands of Maltese and Gozitans

* who are against membership in the EU

* understand that the political,

* economic,

* social

* and the European

* foreign and

* defence policy

* are not the best for the Maltese people,

* and that the people have lost,

* not gained,

* when in these sectors

* it threw away the policy that they used to embraced

* prior to having to implement those of the Union.

By Malta staying quiet around the high table of the Union countries Malta’s voice will not be heard stronger from when Malta used to sing soloist in international fora and not in a choir of 27 countries with a number of them having strong voices that drown the voices of others.

The progress that our people made after acquiring Independence and Freedom were not acquired on the strength of the EU.

During the five years that our country has been a Union member,

* the mass of the people did not better its standard of living,

* and for many families,

* the difficulties have increased

* and poverty has again increased.

The social services that the people have were made before we became Union members, and with full membership they are being threatened, not strengthened.

Little by little, the management of the best enterprises in our country are again falling into foreign hand.

Political movement for Freedom

All these factors led the members of the Campaign for National Independence (CNI) to agree, during the annual general meeting that was held on Friday 4 December, on a proposal that action should be taken to stop the great harm that the people are suffering as a consequence of Malta’s membership in the EU.

The proposal passed at the annual general meeting

* is intended to create a means

* for the voice of thousands of Maltese and Gozitans,

* of every political colour,

* who are against the membership of our country in the EU,

* not to remain any longer ignored

* both locally,

* as well as out of our country.

While everyone can continue to embrace his political beliefs,

we can agree on a most important issue for everyone:

* that we again become an independent and free people,

* led democratically by a sovereign parliament,

* in the best interests of the country,

* not as decided by the majority of the European Union foreigners.

These were the reasons that led to this proposal that

“the Committee elected for next year should enquire about the necessity of the setting up a political movement that works for the renewal of freedom and independence for the Maltese people.”

An EU agency that only supports refugees

Last week the European Union countries agreed that our country should host the new agency that is going to be set up to support the Union countries in the management of refugees (European Asylum Support Office).

Now the leaders of the European Union member states are expected that during today and tomorrow summit approve the agreement reached that the office of this agency will be in Malta.

The spokespersons for the Maltese Government are giving the people the understanding that the office of this agency in Malta is going to be of help in the illegal immigrants’ problem.

This is deceit

* because this new European Union agency

* is only concerned with refugees and

* not with illegal immigrants

* who are not entitled to be considered as refugees.

And the crisis that we have in our country is not due to the few hundred refugees that are here,

* but because of the thousands of illegal immigrants that are in Malta

* who are not refugees.

The European Union Pact of 16 October 2008 on Immigration and Asylum distinguished between illegal immigrants and refugees, and states extremely clearly that the European Union countries must send back the illegal immigrants to their own countries or to the countries from where they had last left for the European Union countries.

The pact states that the illegal immigrants should first be encouraged to go back voluntarily, but if they do not do so, they should be sent back against their will.

But the Maltese Government did the contrary to what the EU Pact states about Immigration and Asylum.

Not only did it take the necessary measures to send the illegal immigrants back, buy even made changes in the law so that the illegal immigrants will not be considered as “illegal”, but only as “irregular” immigrants.

And the ex-President Eddie Fenech Adami,

* in a national conference on immigration,

* even had the gall to chastise the speakers

* who referred to the illegal immigrants in our country

* instead of referring to them as irregular immigrants

It is shameful that the Maltese Parliament

* finds time to discuss everything,

* but does not feel that it is its duty

* to discuss the very grave problem

* that thousands of illegal immigrants

* are being kept in our country and

* not sent back either to their own country

* or to the countries that they were in before they came to Malta.
