We should strengthen not weaken neutrality

After making us members of the European Union to be part of the European Army, they made us members in the Partnership for Peace to be part of NATO.

Now they want to take away our neutrality to make sure that we are considered as part of the West.

The effect that this will have will be that Maltese and Gozitan youths will be butchered in fighting created capriciously by countries that produce arms and armaments, and create wars to sell the products of their armaments industries.

The neutrality of our country is the greatest weapon that we can have for the protection of the Maltese people.

We shall be a threat to no one, and therefore no one shall have reason to threaten us.

If we do not remain neutral, it would mean that we shall be leaning to one side.

We will be inviting it to take measures against us, once we will be with those who are against it.

We will again be drawn into other’s wars, without winning anything except bloodshed, damage and destruction.

If it did, why does NATO still exist?

It does not only continue to exist, but was enlarged and is expanding.

The armaments were not reduced, but were increased and their damaging and destructive power also increased.

With the excuse of protecting democracy and human rights, the Western countries have again resurrected the crusades and attacked Serbia, Afghanistan and Iraq.

The same Western countries make enormous trade from the selling of arms and armaments for fighting never to stop in the African and Middle East countries.

Three Western countries,

How can Malta, if it really wants to work for peace among nations, be aligned with the Western countries that have an interest for there to be wars so that they will sell their arms and armaments ?

If Malta is to be their ally it would be approving their bad actions, and in the eyes of the rest of the world would appear as their partner.

It was said that we should revise what is stated in the Constitution of Malta about neutrality.

Whoever is saying this does not want the strengthening of neutrality in our Constitution, but wants to weaken it, if not remove it totally.

We insist totally the opposite.

We need a stronger neutrality in our Constitution, and add that we shall not be of any help to those who make war, by not allowing them to use our country’s facilities, and by being the duty of our country to insist on the destruction of the nuclear arms and weapons of mass destruction, and for total disarmament.

We should not, if we truly believe in peace, take part in the increase of the military expenses that the Union wants every member country to make, and should have nothing to do with the Union European Army.

We insist that there is nothing wrong in our Constitution about neutrality that should be erased.

We should add to it, not decrease it.

And this shall be in the interests of better protection of the Maltese and Gozitans.

The European Union Military Alliance

Article 28(A)(7) of the European Union Treaty, as amended, binds the Union member countries to defend each other in case of aggression against them.

All the blubbering that is being said right now about that we should change what the Constitution of Malta states on neutrality was raised by the fact that now the Union is going to become a military alliance, while the Constitution does not allow Malta to take part in military alliances.

The European Union Treaty as amended by the Lisbon Treaty, in Article 28(A)(7) states that :

« If a member of the union is subjected to military aggression on its territory, the other member countries of the Union have a duty to give their help and assistance with every means at their disposal, according to Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations. »

This obligation of reciprocal help with every means in case of aggression binds the Union member countries in a military alliance to defend each other by means of their armed forces.

But Article (3) of the Constitution of Malta does not permit our country to be bound with other countries that give military help to each other, because our country is obliged to refuse to take part in a military alliance, whoever are its members.

Other parts of Article 28(A) of the European Union Treaty as amended by the Lisbon Treaty continues to charge the military leanings of the Union.

In it is stated that the Union should have a common defence and security policy, which shall be part of its foreign affairs policy.

It is also stated that the common defence and security policy gives the Union operative power to act by making use of the civil and military means of the member countries.

It is stated the security and defence policy should progressively lead to a common defence policy.

The same Article of the European Union Treaty as amended by the Lisbon Treaty obliges the member countries to progressively better their military capabilities.

It also provides that the European Defence Agency that the EU has set up to ensure that the arms and armaments of the member countries will be compatible, should recognize the military requirements of the member countries, and promote measures for these requirements to be met.

If Malta does not remain attentive and keep back from these European Union military measures, apart from disrupting the perspective of a neutral country that actively works for peace, as stated by the Constitution of Malta in its first Article, will also find itself forming part of the war machine of the European Union, which apart from defence, will also be used for attacks on other countries, as is happening today in Afghanistan, and tomorrow can happen in Iran.

The EU wants us to spend more on armaments

If terrorism is the greatest threat for security the of EU countries, the increase in spending for the armed forces in arms and armaments will not provide a shield for this greatest threat.

Notwithstanding this, the European Union is insisting with the member countries to spend more to increase their armaments.

This fact should be understood by everyone if he thinks a little about the terrorism acts that make most sound.

Let’s take the greatest terrorist act of the three aircraft that the terrorists took to fly them to the Twin Towers in New York and on the American military centre, the Pentagon.

The United States has the greatest military force in the world, it has missiles, nuclear arms, and even a shield to shield attacks that come from space.

Notwithstanding that it has all these arms and armaments they did not have the means to stop the terrorism acts from occurring in the London Underground and on the London buses.

The same can be said about all the regiments in England and the British Navy warships who were useless to stop the London terrorist acts.

The same can be said about the terrorism acts that was made on the Spanish trains four years ago.

The Spanish military forces are equipped with modern arms because they form part of the NATO military alliance.

In Russia a number of terrorist acts have been committed, such as the occupation of the theatre, when they held school children as hostages, and in the two cases, hundreds of persons died.

With all the armaments that Russia has, it could not stop these terrorist acts.

We do not have to go a long way from our shores to realize that terrorism cannot be stopped with arms and armaments.

In the 70’s and 80’s, we had a series of terrorist acts in our country, when nearly every week a bomb was placed at the door of persons who used to work with the Government.

Even if at the time we had more arms, we would not have been able to get rid of these terrorist acts in our country.

But the European Union continues to insist that our country should spend more in buying arms and armaments and for the armed forces to take part in the continuous fight against terrorism.

And our Armed Forces are happy to go to train hoe to fight, to be more efficient against terrorism.

Notwithstanding this we do not even know how to stop the illegal immigrants invasion of our country, and neither do we have enough persons to keep them under control and enough financial means to better the environment where they are kept.

We will be wiser if we do not obey the EU and instead of increasing the military expenditure, we reduce it , and use the money saved for good and useful purposes.
