CNI appeals to the parties not to allow the EU “destroy” our country
During
the CNI
Annual General Meeting that was held last Sunday, a resolution was approved that
among other things, appealed to the political parties not to allow the European
Union to do at the end of next year that which the German bombs did not do
during the last World War.
The resolution noted that while in three years (2004-2006) Malta gave the EU
Lm73,750,000, no information was given how much the Union gave to Malta from the
promised sum of Lm154,700,000.
It
noted that during the last few years, while it was said that with EU membership
work will run after the workers, more than 100 factories were closed down and
thousands of workers were discharged, 6,000 foreigners were granted permission
to work in Malta, and at the end of next year the backbone of Maltese industry
for the repair and building of ships is threatened.
During the discussion on the resolution, the CNI
members condemned the giving of the work of Sea Malta employees to a foreign
company, which is not giving a regular service as required to exporters.
They
also condemned the granting of parts of Malta to foreigners, among them the
great swathe of land at Ta’ Qali which is going to become an American base.
They criticized the loss of Lm11 million each year of the profits of the Central
Bank on foreign reserves that are now going to the Central European Bank upon

all else, the CNI
members objected that EU foreigners interfere in everything, how many workers we
employ at the Shipyard, how much we tax baby nappies, and force us to keep in
our country thousands of illegal immigrants and not allow us to help them to
continue going where they want to go in Europe.
