WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
The European Union ordered that in 2011 the Maltese and Gozitan people pay it €68,000,000
€186,000 daily stolen from your childrens mouths
Where is the national and the Shipyards interest?
It is not true that we cannot leave the European Union
See this European Parliament video that we can leave
When
on 18 June 2008, the Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and the Minister Austin Gatt
announced that the Government had decided to sell the Shipyard, they boasted
that foreign investors had long been interested in the Shipyard.
They did not feel ashamed that the people will tell them that if many foreigners wanted the Shipyard, they want it because they believe that they can make profit from it.
Then
how can the Government insist that it cannot be viable and therefore it should
get rid of it quickly, by the end of the Year?
The Prime minister and Minister Gatt continued to say that for the Malta
Shipyard to be viable, the number of workers have to be drastically reduced, so
that it would be attractive for potential investors.
But the Campaign for National Independence (CNI) knows that not all potential investors insist on a drastic reduction in the number of workers.
The
CNI
knows that in at least one case, it was sure that he had publicly declared that
if the Shipyard will be in his hands, he shall have to increase the number of
workers to meet the work demand that he will bring it.
The CNI
reminds the public that in 2006, a foreign entrepreneur, Joseph Calà had come
to Malta after one of the best agencies in the maritime sector, Lloyds of
London, assured him that the Malta Shipyard workers are among the best in the
world for ship repair.
He wanted to give a big contract that would have meant work for many years and
great millions for the Shipyard, but the Shipyard executive management and the
Government did everything possible to dissuade the entrepreneur Calà and that
it was after public insistence by the General Workers’ Union (GWU) that he was
given an estimate for the work.
Notwithstanding this, the executive management and the Government did not want to agree with him.
Now Joseph Calà is doing this work that he wanted to give to the Shipyard in other European shipyards.

And
now, the Prime Minister, Minister Gatt and Minister Tonio Fenech want the people
to believe them that there is the need to reduce the number of workers by more
than one thousand workers from the Shipyard, when two years ago the entrepreneur
Joseph Calà wanted to take the Shipyard into his hands and increase the number
of its workers.
The CNI insists that the reduction of more than one thousand workers from the Shipyard is not in the interest of the country that needs an increase in the number of people working, not a reduction.
This
big number is also damaging for the workers who prefer to continue to work,
rather than leave their work, as the Government is encouraging them to do.
Rather than encouraging the workers, the Government is threatening them that if
they do not accept to retire voluntarily, it would have to close the Shipyard
after the end of this year and thus the number of workers that are threatened to
lose their job is of 1,726.
The CNI
has information that if there are workers who prefer to retire from the Shipyard
and take a sum of money from the Government, there are also workers who want to
continue to work in the Shipyard and are not ready to let their employment be
terminated.
The
CNI
is convinced that the GWU is determined to defend at all costs, all the workers
who do not want to retire and take a sum of money.
The
CNI
believes that the workers are not going to let the Shipyard be closed down,
because if the Government retires from its management and from continuing to
grant it aid, the Shipyard workers who want to remain in employment, have the
ability and the means to manage the Shipyard themselves, without interference
and subsidies by the Government.
The Government has been for years conducting a campaign against the Shipyard workers.
But
the entrepreneur Joseph Calà did not find the workers inefficient, but the
executive management, paid hundreds of thousands of ewros and the Government who
always blessed the inefficiency of their scandalous management.
Factories reduce the number of workers when sales of their products are reduced.
The
Malta Shipyard will not lack work if the executive management and the Government
really want the Shipyard work to increase.
It is a clear that the Shipyard requires reorganization in its top management
and that its managers and the Government motivate the workers to work more, not
demoralize them by insulting them with lack of productivity and work not up to
standard and threatening to close down the Shipyard if at least one thousand
workers are not laid off.
The CNI accuses the Government that in the manner that it is acting about the future of the Shipyard, it is pleasing the European Union, but is undermining the national interests, apart from causing great damage to many workers and their families.
The people are not going to allow to happen to the Shipyard the same criminal
acts that happened in the Sea Malta issue and its employees.
The repair of ships and yacht work is carried out by the workers for the owners
of the ships and yachts, not the Government and the Shipyard executive
management, and the workers can continue to do it without the government and the
executive management after the First of January next year.
