They frequently broadcast that a project is going to be made with EU funds.

Obviously, the Prime Minister or some Minister intervenes to remind us that those funds are coming from the EU.

But no one has the decency, that some time reminds the people how many millions of euros we are paying to the EU every year.

This year only we are going to give it €66.5 million, and during the six years of EU membership, we shall have given it about €376 million.

That is why we are right to insist that the Government and the EU propagandists among us are deceiving the Maltese people, by hiding how much we are giving to the EU, while they only show them the other face of the coin of what we are receiving from the EU.

This is great political dishonesty and a great contempt to the people who are worthy to be treated better.

The fact that they are hiding from the people important information is disgusting and casts a bad shadow on them, but it also shows that if the people come to know the true picture of how much our membership is costing the people they will understand that not everything is nice and pretty and certainly does not justify the loss of liberty of how we manage our country.

The funds that are said to come from the EU, in fact are coming from the taxes paid by our own people.

Every month the Maltese Government sends millions of euros to the EU, and from them the EU sends us funds when we finish the projects approved by it.

The Prime Minister and the Ministers brag that the EU is giving funds, when the funds will have come from our own taxes.

As they never explain to the people that the amount of money that we pay the EU every year together with the amount of expenses that our country makes every year because of membership, are more then the amount of funds that we receive from the EU every year.

With the amount of expenses that we pay we can make all the projects that the Government brags that are made with EU funds.

Not only this, we would also be able to make projects that are useful for our country without interference from the EU.

Our money that we send to the EU and which it sends as its funds, we will spend as we want, not as the EU wants

Deceit about the euro

Even about the euro they have deceived our people.

They told them that it is better with the euro because it is a strong currency.

But we have seen how some time ago, its strength vanished and it was even said that it could fail if Greece fails.

Instead of benefits, the euro caused us a lot of damage because it increased the cost of living and increased our cost of production.

Because of the euro, we had to get a loan of €47 million to loan them to Greece, and we also had to guarantee between €350 million and €400 million that we will have to get as a loan, with which other euro countries that will not be able to keep up with their debt will be helped.

But the Prime Minister

* and the euro propagandists

* do not have the decency to tell the people

* that our country would not have seen the increase in the cost of living

* and an increase in the cost of production as we had,

* if we had not adopted the euro,

* and neither would we have had to get a loan of €47 million

* and between €350 and €400 million for Greece

* and the other euro countries

* who will be in a similar dire situation.

Our people will do well to remember that when Iceland was hit by the banking crisis, the Prime Minister and the EU propagandists used to warn us that our country would have been in the same situation as Iceland had we not adopted the euro.

But after the crisis

* in Greece,

* Spain,

* Portugal

* and Ireland,

* the Prime Minister and the propagandists suddenly stopped bragging that the euro had saved us,

* because those countries also have the euro

* and just the same they are passing through great crisis as much as Iceland, if not greater.

The people should not be amazed about the treachery of the EU funds and about the fib of the euro usefulness, when our UE membership itself is the fruit of great treachery.

Because they told the people that the EU strengthens democracy, when in fact the EU itself is not democratic, as it had shown us when ti did not allow the people to vote on the Lisbon Treaty.

They told the people that the EU strengthens our values, when the EU is lacking of values and is destroying our peoples’ values and increasing corruption.

They bragged with the people that with the EU’s big market we were going to export more, but we have found out that exports from our country have decreased.

They told the people that with EU membership, the financial situation of our country will be better, so that now we have ended up with much more national debt than ever before.

They also told the people that with the millions that will come from the EU, our standard of living will be higher, but in fact what happened was that it did increase for those of the inner circle, but for the majority of the people it decreased a lot, and many social services are threatened.

EU membership meant for the majority of the Maltese people, less work and a loss of freedom.

That is why we have a constant bombardment of propaganda in favour of the EU, so that the people will forget the great betrayal that they have suffered.

Slovakia does not give loans to Greece

While the Maltese Parliament unanimously approved

* the agreement that the Government made with the EU

* for Malta to loan €47 million to Greece,

* the Slovak Parliament with 69 against 2 votes,

* voted against the agreement that the previous Government

* had made with the EU for Slovakia to loan Greece

* so that it will overcome its crisis.

Both the Government of the Chancellor Angela Merkel,

* as well as the European Commissioner for Economy, Olli Rehn,

* criticized the decision of the Slovak Parliament.

Merkel’s representative reminded that solidarity has to be shown not only mentioned.

He insisted that all the Governments of the euro countries had bound themselves to take their share of the Greek loan.

Commissioner Rehn on his side showed himself very sorry and insisted that Slovakia had bound itself to help Greece and that the decision of the Slovak Parliament is destroying that binding.

The euro countries group and the EU’s Council of Economic and Finance (Ecofin) is going to discuss this decision at the next meeting.

In the parliamentary debate the Minister for Finance said that he does not see that it is solidarity that he who cannot, would have to give to those who can, and that he who has a sense of responsibility, will have to give to those who are irresponsible in their actions, and that those who do not pay taxes, will have to help the bank owners and managers.

For the criticism that the EU leaders made on the vote against of the Slovak Parliament, the Minister for Finance answered that it is true that the EU big (countries) did not agree on a contrary vote and this decision is troubling them a lot.

But this happened because they had created a lot of excuses to justify the help to Greece, and the Slovak Parliament showed all their treachery.

When will the Maltese Parliament have the dignity to vote against the agreement that the EU makes?

A chastisement of the European Commissioner

The Slovak Prime Minister, Iveta Radicova, wash more severe with Commissioner Olli Rehn. She said that the manner that this unelected officer spoke about how the elected members of the Slovak Parliament had voted was insolent.

She also said that the EU should not be made up of “Big Borther” and many satellites that shall have to obey the states that are bigger, stronger and richer.

She commented that she has a fresh memory of what it means to be a satellite state.

With this comments many thought that the Prime Minister was reminding when Germany was a satellite, first of Nazi Germany and afterwards of the Soviet Union.

Iveta Redicova explained that she wanted to insist that in a democratic association, a state should listen to the arguments of smaller states but that they just the same know what is required from them in their responsible decisions.

She insisted that the politicians that are elected in democratic elections have the right to criticize decisions with which they do not agree.

But EU officers like the commissioner who are not elected, have no right to criticize decisions taken by representatives elected by the people.

Do the Maltese Members of Parliament have the ability to stand up to the European Commissioners as the Slovak Prime Minister is doing?

The EU should criminalize illegal immigration

By By Charles Micallef,  Campaign for National Independence CNI

My opinion is that the EU should criminalize illegal immigration.

It was the EU that forced the Maltese Government not to continue to take criminal proceedings against illegal immigrants who enter into our country and instead told us to consider them as “irregular” immigrants.

The EU capitalist system looks favourably towards illegal immigrants

* because they increase the workers market in the country,

* and thus they would lower wages

* and weaken the strength of trade unions

* because the employers will be able to employ illegal immigrants

* with inferior working conditions

* than those which they will have to give to workers members in a trade union.

That is why illegal immigration is an effective instrument in the hands of the capitalist EU

* to subdue the strength of trade unions

* and that is why the EU is not carrying out a war

* against illegal immigration,

* but is tolerating all this because it is a source of cheap labour.

The EU accepts the entry of hundreds of illegal immigrants notwithstanding that it has millions of European youth unemployed for years in their own country.

Today’s problem that thousands of illegal immigrants sail the Mediterranean took over from the previous pirates who used to disrupt trade in the Mediterranean and caused great poverty in our country.

Piracy in the Mediterranean reached its strength with the strength lf the Turks in the 19th century.

On 29 October, 1827, the ships of three countries, Great Britain, Russia and France, attacked the Turkish fleet in the battle of Navarino to force Turkey to subdue piracy and allow free trade without any hindrance in the Mediterranean.

Following the great victory against the Turks at the battle of Navarino, a number of sailing ships entered our Grand Harbour for repairs and the Shipyard was overflowing with work, and the boatmen and bars did a roaring trade.

Great Britain and France wanted to totally destroy piracy in the Mediterranean, and sent a naval squad commanded by Sir Thomas Staines to attack every ship that was in the port of Karbusa, in Kandia, (today Crete).

All the pirates that were caught were brought to Malta and according to what was written by Admiral Codington they were packed like sardines in our country’s prisons.

The British processed them according to maritime law at the Vice-Admiralty Court, and may were hanged.

That is why drastic measures were taken against the piracy trouble in the Mediterranean in the 19 th century.

But in the case of today’s trouble created by the illegal immigrants,

* there is great opposition for drastic measures to be taken to stop it

* notwithstanding that the people are fed up with the presence

* of thousands of illegal immigrants

* and with the work that they are taking

* from Maltese workers.

Against piracy a law was enacted to make it a criminal offence.

Why does the EU not make a law that considers illegal immigration as a criminal offence?

If the EU criminalizes illegal immigration, it will be a strong deterrent for the immigrants

At the same time that it criminalizes illegal immigration, the EU should take effective measures to help set up democratic governments in the African countries and to increase work and increase the standard of living of the people of these countries.

After all the EU ought to recognize that its big member countries have a lot to blame for the poverty and lack of work and of economic development of the African countries that until a few years ago were all colonies ruled by the European countries that today are EU members.
