WELCOME TO THE CNI WEBPAGE
CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
The European Union ordered that from 2009 the Maltese and Gozitans pay the European Union €153,400 daily
The EU made us lose our Freedom
Thirty years ago the Maltese
people acquired full freedom from the foreigner.
Five years ago, on 1 May 2004, the people lost their full freedom when they became European Union members.
Because with membership the will of the majority of the Maltese people did not remain sovereign in our country and the will of the majority of the EU became sovereign in our country.
This fact is the crux of the loss of the full freedom of our people.
In the Union it is not us who decide what we do in our country.
It is decided by the majority
of the EU, even against the will of our majority that would not agree with the
EU.
That is why we no longer have full freedom.
It is not the Maltese Prime Minister and the Ministers elected by the people that lead us.
We are led by the EU because
the Prime Minister and the Ministers execute orders they receive from Brussels,
and they do not do anything that is not approved by Brussels.
They are like puppets with their strings being pulled.
But they feign that they decide and lead.
It is not true.
The EU commands them.
The EU does not allow us to make agreements with foreign countries if not as it orders.
Not as is for the benefit of our people, but as the EU wants.
We are no longer free to look first after our interests, because the interests of the Union come before those of the Maltese people.
We are no longer free to give
aid to our industries because the EU does not allow us to give them advantage on
the Union industries, notwithstanding that our country has the disadvantages of
being small, an island, and without the natural resources that the big Union
countries have.
We are no longer free not to allow foreigners without permission in our country,
because the EU commands us what we have to do in the immigration sector.
We are facing an invasion.
With our hands tied by the Union policy, we are not free to take all the necessary steps to stop it.
We are free only to plead for the Union’s help that never arrives.
We are no longer free to use the taxes we pay by giving the people essential
services, such as the provision of water, with moderate rates that can be
reached by the meagre wages that we have.
The EU makes us increase the exaggerated rates to cover all the expenses,
* so that thus we make the families,
* threaten the factories,
* the hotels, and
* businesses and make them suffer, and
* we lose our competitiveness.
We are not free to follow a policy of neutrality and non-alignment.
Membership in the EU binds us
with the common foreign policy, of defence and security aligned with the NATO
military organization.
The greatest proof of how we have lost our full freedom is given to us by the same EU when it frequently imposes fines upon us because we do not obey its directives and threatens us that it shall take us before its court if we break its regulations.
We have again become a colony.
Not of the British … but of the European Union.
The greatest certificate of
how we are no longer free was given to us by the European Commissioner Kroes
when she came among us a few months ago and chastised the government because she
did not like its plan for the privatization of the Shipyard and ordered it to
make another plan, otherwise the EU will take steps against it.
We acquired full freedom when we took in our hands the running of every thing in
our country.
When we became EU members, the running of most of the important sectors passed on to foreigners –
* the biggest bank,
* the airport,
* the Freeport,
* the loading and unloading of merchandise at the Grand Harbour,
* telecommunications,
* post, and
* other sectors.
Therefore
we are no longer free to run our affairs and are no longer owners in our own
house.
Five hundred years ago the Maltese peasants acquired freedom from the foreigners yoke by sacrificing themselves and collected a sum of money to redeem our island from whom had bought it from King Alphonse.
Thirty years ago thousands of Maltese workers did not shy to sacrifice their employment with the British services so that our people acquire full freedom.
But five years ago with a great shame for us, we sold freedom the dearest thing for us, for the money that the EU promised us.
And today, with great hypocrisy, we celebrate the freedom that we betrayed.
The great robbery
They frequently tell us how many millions we are going to receive from the European Union.
Now they are even mentioning a billion.
They do not even tell us how
many millions membership in the EU is costing us.
The hide how much we are paying in direct contributions to the EU, how many expenses we incur to conform to the Union directives, to administer its regulations, and to administer the funds for the projects aided by the Union.
The hide how much higher prices we are paying for the food we import, a consequence of the EU policy.
The European Commission estimates that per capita every citizen of the EU is
paying €235 every year in taxes.
The British organization Taxpayers Alliance insists that the real expense for every citizen is €2,400 every year and not €235.
This means that the Maltese and Gozitan peoples share for the total expense for EU membership is €960 million every year.
All these calculations made Matthew Elliot, the Executive Chief of the Taxpayers Alliance, call membership in the European Union
“The Great European Rip OFF”,
which means the great European robbery.
Lack of popular support for the EU
The European Union is not only
caught in a financial and economic crisis, but worse than this, is facing a
crisis of lack of popular support.
According to the latest EU Eurostat research, this support in Malta went down to 48% of the people, while according to the latest research made by the BBC, in the United Kingdom, 55 per cent of the people agree that they should leave the EU.
The majority of the Irish people voted against the EU Reform Treaty (Lisbon
Treaty).
Two years ago a majority of French and Dutch people had voted against the European Union Constitutional Treaty.
In the 2004 elections for
the European Parliament, in the whole EU, the average of those who interested
themselves to go and vote was only 45 per cent.
The EU is very worried about the manner of how popular interest and support for
it is always decreasing.
To try to stop this loss of popular interest and support the EU launched a propaganda campaign with an expense of €18 million for the next European Parliament Elections.
The Union is going to spend these €18 million in billboards, adverts and other
means of propaganda.
This is not the only case of how the EU burns millions collected from the taxes of the citizens of the member countries.
According to the Irish Eurosceptics, the Union decided to spend another €1.8 million in a campaign in Ireland, on the pretext that it is necessary to inform the Irish voters what are the benefits of the Lisbon Treaty, with the hope that the referendum that is to be held during the coming Autumn, the majority will vote in favour of the treaty.
To solve the illegal immigrants’ crisis…
As
long as the illegal immigrants’ crisis remains in our country, we shall continue
to hammer home to stop them from coming among us.
Not because we do not recognize their dignity as human beings, nothing less than us Maltese,
* but because we have the principal obligation to protect our Maltese brethren,
* our children and
* children’s children,
* from the social trouble and
* the threat to their
* security and
* health.
The Maltese Parliament is
shirking from deciding to take the necessary concrete measures to stop the
illegal immigration in our country.
It is necessary that more popular pressure be exerted so that Parliament passes on from words to action in this crisis that our people are facing.
We cannot continue to hope that the solution to the crisis for illegal immigration in our country comes from the European Union or from the governments of the North African countries.
The solution is in the hands of the Maltese Parliament that has the power to close the doors of our country for illegal immigrants.
Our
country opened wide the doors to illegal immigrants when it submitted to the EU’s threats that if we do not
accept to allow illegal immigrants who come to stay, it will not allow us to
become members.
This shameful fact was uncovered on 29 April 2008 in The Times by Louis Cilia, who was one of the Maltese Government Officials that were discussing with the EU Malta’s membership in the EU.
Today we are suffering the consequences of the gross mistake that was made when
we repealed all the reservations that the Maltese government had made in 1971 to
the Refugee Convention.
* These reservations gave us the right to not accept illegal immigrants
* due to the small size of our country,
* the size of the population and
* many other shortcomings that our country has.
The solution to the illegal immigrants’ crisis is that our country again makes the reservations that we had and that the EU forced us to remove.
There are other EU members that have reservations for the Refugee Convention.
Malta has greater reasons than these countries to make reservations for the convention.
Once the EU does not want to help us to stop the illegal immigrants,
* we have a right to do what is in the national interest of the Maltese people
* to protect them for the social trouble, and
* threats to the health and
* security of the people.
If the EU objects that we re-introduce the reservations that we had made in 1971, we should tell it that we shall allow the illegal immigrants to go from our country to its other countries, as after all the immigrants want to do.
