CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
Betrayal of national interests
The President of the European Commission, Josč Manuel
Barroso, and the leaders of some of the Union countries, among them the Maltese
Prime Minister, were so barefaced that they boasted that the Reform Treaty
agreed at the Lisbon summit on 18 October, strengthens the Union democratic
aspect, when they had decided that they will not let the peoples vote
democratically whether they want the Treaty.
Whatever the Treaty contains, the greatest impact that it
had on the people is this – the people understood that the European Union is
choking democracy by denying its citizens from voting about it and is pushing it
down their throat, whether they want it or not.
This widespread opinion is going to reduce, not increase,
the support of the people for the Union, and is uncovering the great hypocrisy
of the politicians (also Maltese) who boast that they are the champions of
democracy, but are denying it to their people, and imposing on them what the
politicians want.
The leaders of the Union and the member countries (including Malta) insist that
the Reform Treaty is going to strengthen the Union.
When they say so, they do not become aware that the people
thus understand that the Treaty is going to continue to weaken the powers of
their national government, because the new strength that the Treaty gives to the
Union, it takes it from the governments of the member countries.
The more powers that the EU has, the less powers remain for the national
governments.
The people not only realize this loss, but feel surprised
and scandalized how their politicians pass on to the European Union the running
of things which the people had trusted to their politicians which they elect in
an election to lead them.
We have ended up in this disgraceful situation that we vote for our politicians
and then we find that we are being led by foreigners whom we neither know nor
voted for.
This is the democracy that we are practicing!
Because in every sector that the EU decides on something with the majority of
the member countries and against the opposition of Malta, the Maltese people
will have to submit to that which they do not want and cannot change with their
votes in a General Election.
In all these cases, the will of the majority of the
Maltese people is worth nothing, because sovereignty is no longer in their
hands, but the politicians passed it on to the majority of the foreigners of the
EU.
This is a betrayal of the interests of the Maltese people that those who boast with the EU Reform Treaty are doing.
They hope that the people will not become aware of this
because they bombard them with ceaseless propaganda and that time will make the
people become accustomed to this national humiliation.
But history does not teach us so.
History shows that sooner or later the people feel that they have to rise and be again free from this foreigner yoke.
And for this scope will search for politicians that can
redeem them, give them back their honour and make them sovereign in their home.
More
information about the European Union:
Immigration
The European Union policy on immigration is contrary to
the policy that our country should have in this regard.
Due to the small size of our island, the overpopulation,
the lack of resources, the limitations of work opportunities, we cannot welcome
immigrants.
But the Union does not want us not to accept immigrants.
It wants us to adopt a policy of integrating immigrants into Maltese society.
And it is pressing the Government to put into effect its
directives about the integration of immigrants in our country.
Indeed it wants us to give them Maltese citizenship after a certain time.
It is insisting with us to allow the members of the
families of immigrants unite with them to live in our country.
They are hiding from the people what the true situation is about immigration in
our country.
According to research by an English organization, last year in Malta we had 1,913 legal immigrants that did not come from EU countries, and the previous year a number of illegal immigrants entered into our country.
The research does not say how many came to our country
from EU countries.
The Union is rebuking us because only a few among us believe that the mixing of races enriches our national culture.
This witnesses the policy that the Union wants us to adopt with which we encourage immigration to our country, not of opposing it because we cannot bear the weight.
Instead, the Union is accusing us of discrimination and
racism.
Mediterranean
Union
Last week the French President Nicolas Sarkozy again
insisted that a Mediterranean Union should be set up in which all the
Mediterranean European countries will become members, and the North African
countries and those of the Middle East whose shores are bathed by the
Mediterranean.
He invited the governments of all the Mediterranean countries for a meeting that
is gong to be held next June.
During the meeting agreement should be reached on the
basis of this political, economic and cultural union, in which all the countries
will be considered equal, whatever their size.
Sarkozy said that if in the future there are harsh wars between civilizations
and religions, these will happen in the Mediterranean and the same will happed
if there is a war between the countries of the North and those of the South of
the world.
This union can take care of presently big issues, such as terrorism, immigration, the energy crisis, the increase in trade, the lack of drinking water and the sustainable development of the Mediterranean countries.
The EU does not want this Mediterranean Union to be set
up.
Waste
The summits held four times a year of the leaders of the
EU countries cost an enormous lot of money (and this is why the member countries
pay funds to the EU).
How great are the expenses results from the figure that
the Union decided to give to France that is going to organize two summits during
the six months that France will have the Union presidency.
The sum is around €95 million, which means an expense of around €47 million for each summit.
This is an example of the obscene waste of the Union
leadership!
'Partnership'
What should be the relations of the EU with Turkey is the issue that is dividing the members in the European block.
There are countries that want Turkey to become a member in the EU, but there are others who only want a ‘partnership’ agreement not ‘membership’.
Among the latter is Germany that previously was in favour
of ‘membership’ for Turkey, but now appears that it wants a
‘partnership’ agreement.
At the end of this year another ‘partnership’
agreement that the European Union had concluded with Russia ten years ago, known
as Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) comes to an end.
Up to four years ago, in 2003, the EU used to say to Malta
that ‘partnership’ agreements with it do not exist, when six years
previously it had already concluded a similar one with Russia.
Subsidies
The European Union agricultural policy, known as the
Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), is harshly criticized for many reasons.
Among them, for the subsidies system that it grants for
leaving land follow.
Some landowners receive millions of Ewros yearly for leaving their land
fallow.
Among them is Queen Elizabeth of England who in 2003-2004
was given €1.5 millions in agricultural subsidies from the Union.
Reciprocity
The leaders of the European Union and of the big countries
of the block, among them Germany, France and England, at their meeting in
Lisbon, two weeks ago, had accepted to insist for reciprocity between the Union
itself and the countries that are outside, with respect to the investment
sector.
They agreed that in order to allow the countries outside the Union to buy enterprises in the EU countries, these same countries must likewise allow the European countries to buy their enterprises.
About 30 years ago the Maltese Government, led by
Architect Mintoff, introduced in our country the concept of reciprocity in trade
between Malta and foreign countries.
On the strength of the reciprocity policy, foreign
countries were allowed to sell their products and services in Malta, as long as
they bought products made in Malta and services given by the Maltese.
The principle was that we buy from those who buy from us.
With this policy we enlarged the Maltese manufacturing and
services industries.
We had so insisted in trade reciprocity, that in the case of Italy that could
not buy products and services from us, it had accepted that instead, it was to
give us a yearly grant to balance for the great amount of products and services
that we yearly bought from it.
Once the European Union is insisting on the principle of reciprocity in investment, it cannot refuse it in trade.
Today the Union had to accept a policy that Malta under
Mintoff had embraced 30 years ago.
News
The news and media agencies fed by the European Union
inflate every news item about it and hide every criticism against it.
This is what they have done at the Lisbon summit that the
Union organized.
A small distance away from where the leaders of the EU countries were meeting, Portuguese trade unions held a public protest meeting against the Union Reform Treaty.
200,000 Portuguese workers took part in the protest.
The news and media agencies, that had hundreds of
correspondents from around the world for the summit, did not report anything
about the enormous protest by the 200,000 workers against the Treaty.
They wasted time waiting for EU officials to give them propaganda reports about
the summit of the leaders that ended as expected, with agreement about the new
Treaty which is nothing except a different version of the Treaty that was signed
in Rome in October 2004.
A big protest by 200,000 workers is no news that they should give to the public,
only because it was against, not in favour, of the Union.
Education
According to a report released last week by the
organization EuroChambers, the highest rate of education in the European Union
is found in Belgium, in the Brabant Walloon region, where 45.4% of the
population have a higher education degree, while in Malta, it is only 11.4% of
the population that have the same degree.
