Schengen reduced security in our country

It is not true that we cannot leave the European Union

The MURDER that occurred last week in Birkirkara was similar to those carried out by the Mafia in Sicily.

This was the general comment of the people.

Many were concerned because they remembered that it has become an easy thing for Sicilian criminals to come to Malta and go back without anyone being on guard for them, now that all controls on passports have been eliminated with Malta’s entry into the European Union Schengen Zone.

Because according to the Schengen Agreement citizens of the Union countries member of the zone can go to other countries which like them are in the Schengen zone, the same as Maltese persons go to Ghawdex and the Gozitans come to Malta.

They just pay the air or sea ticket without any controls whatsoever of their passports and customs.

The worst consequence of the Schengen agreement is that criminals in the Schengen Zone now have the facility to operate wherever they want in all the countries of the zone without anyone keeping control of where they go.

In our case, this means that the Mafia and the Camorra will find no obstacles to be engaged to commit a murder in our country.

The Schengen Agreement increased the threat of crimes that will be committed on our people and therefore reduced the security in our country.

For this increase of trouble our people should hold those who are concerned with being lackeys to the European Union rather than protecting the Maltese and Gozitan interests.

These deceived the people by boasting how it is better for the people because they will benefit with the Schengen Agreement, can go to other countries without the need of passport and customs control.

They do not explain to the people that the price that the people have to pay is that the threat will be increased of foreign criminals coming to our country without any hindrance at all.

The Mafia style murder that occurred in Birkirkara will perhaps help the Maltese people to realize that it is better to have less commodity when they go abroad, than less security in their own country, as a result of becoming a member in the European Union Schengen Zone.

It’s good for the people to remember about the great expenses that Schengen had cost us.

We have 40 Malta police members all the time wasted to operate the Schengen Agreement.

Great expenses were incurred for the apparatus and other equipment required by the Police for the Schengen work.

It is enough to remind the people that for the Malta Airport Terminal around four million Ewros were spent to equip it for passengers according to what the agreement required.

This is apart from the time wasted by the Ministers and Government officers in meetings and discussions that are held about Schengen.

The security of the Maltese and Gozitans demands that there is more controls on who enters our country, not the removal of all controls.

Unwanted persons come not only from countries outside the Union, but also from Union countries.

It does not make sense that we had introduced visas for persons from countries outside the Union, while at the same time we did not even maintain the right to examine the passports of those from the Union.

On the first of May we remember

Four years ago, the blessed day of the First of May, was profaned by our membership in the European Union.

Today we are remembering the fourth anniversary of the first day when we lost full freedom, whose acquirement we know to the sacrifices of the workers for the people to be redeemed from the foreigners and take his destiny in their own hands.

The people, especially the workers, hoped that the freedom will be protected with great love, as it was won with great work.

But we had acquired it with courageous leadership, while we lost it with cowardly leadership.

In this First of May the Maltese and Gozitan workers should do well to remember not only the great acquisitions that they had made during the years, but also account of what they have suffered during the last four years of membership in the European Union – loss of work and a reduction of conditions of work.

The voters were deceived in the 2003 Referendum

Earlier this week, the Campaign for National Independence (CNI) held a press conference about the judgment of the European Union Court given on 2 March 2008, against hunting in Spring in Malta.

In the press conference
CNI insisted that the judgment of the European Union Court that ordered the Maltese Government not to allow hunting for quail and turtle doves in Spring raises fundamental issues and principles.

Without the need of going into the merits of the issue of hunting in Spring, there is in question the “good faith” of the European Commission when it negotiated with the Maltese Government membership of our country, as well as the assurances that were given to the Maltese people and the hunters prior to the 2003 Referendum by Prime Minster Fenech Adami, by the Vice Prime Minister Gonzi, by the Minister for Fooreign Affairs Joe Borg, and by the MIC chairman Dr Simon Busuttil.

The Maltese Government and Drs Fenech Adami, Borg and Busuttil assured the people and the hunters that the European Union understood that hunting in Spring shall continue.

The people and the hunters voted in favour of the Membership Agreement with this assurance on their minds.

The Government is accusing the European Commission tat it is backtracking from the agreement that it made with it about Spring hunting.

Now the Commission has acquired from the Union court an order for the Government not to implement what was agreed with the Commission about Spring hunting.

In front of this bad action of the European Commission and the arbitrary order of the Union Court, the Maltese Government, the President of the Republic Dr Fenech Adami, the Prime Minister Dr Gonzi, the European Commissioner Dr Borg, and the European Parliament Member Dr Simon Busuttil, have two alternatives.

Either they resign because the assurances that they had given to the people and the hunters were found to be false and given by deceit, or insist that the agreement with the European Commission was as they are insisting, and on that agreement our membership in the Union was made, and once the European Union is not honouring that agreement, the Membership Agreement should fall and Malta is no longer a member in the European Union.

The judgment of the EU Court belied Doctors Fenech Adami, Gonzi, Borg and Busuttil, and gave a prize for the deceit and bad faith of the European Commission.

The honour of these four doctors, and the honour of Malta demands a fitting retaliation that can only be the resignation of the doctors, if they admit that they did not tell the truth to the people and the hunters, or encourage the Maltese people not to remain members in the Union once it does not have the decency to honour the agreement that it had made with the Maltese Government about Spring hunting.

How do they want us to believe the European Union?

By EDDY PRIVITERA

WE that never believed that the European was the best for our country, strengthened our belief with what our people, particularly the workers, suffered during the last four years that we have been members in the Union.

That is why we cannot agree with him who boasts that that he always believed that our people will be better in the EU.

There are an endless number of arguments why we cannot agree with this boasting that hurts the many thousands that always believed that it is not in our people’s interest to be ruled by the European Union, but better to be partners with it, not members in it.

There are an endless number of arguments why we cannot agree with whoever boasts with European Union membership.

We shall mention a few of them.

It is not true that Malta is financially better with the EU, notwithstanding the boasting about the 855 million Ewros that are supposed to come to our country up to 2013. We have given proof many times of this and no one contradicted us.

The Shipyard will have to close if it does not become viable this year, because the EU bound the Maltese Government with many conditions, including that it cannot grant more operative aid.

The entry of the Ewro, apart from increasing the cost of living (in March the increase reached 4 %) is making us less competitive, not only in the manufacturing industry, but also in tourism, especially in the British market.

The entry of Malta in the Schengen Zone is creating us problems in tourism in those countries that are not in the Schengen Zone. The Government deputy Robert Arrigo, who is an expert in tourism because he is the owner of various tourism enterprises, can witness this.

The loss of sovereignty of our country is a great loss.

As was stated by a political leader prior to the Referendum, the loss cannot be measured.

His exact words were:

“If we had to add what will the loss of our sovereignty cost, how many millions shall we add, 50 million, 100 million, 200 million? I cannot say because sovereignty is priceless.”

When a people lose the right to govern themselves by means of the representatives that they choose in an election, and begin to be governed by foreign politicians and bureaucrats whom they have no right to change, that people shall have lost the greatest right and treasure that they had.

That is why how can someone who really believes that Malta is first and foremost, and especially the Maltese and Gozitan workers, can agree with those who boast with the European Union, that made us lose the sovereignty of our country, by saying that he always believed in the EU!
