CAMPAIGN FOR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE

Was, is and shall remain in favour of Maltese workers
and against Malta's membership of the European Union
TELL YOUR PARLIAMENTARY DEPUTY THAT YOU WANT MALTA TO REGAIN INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
The European Union ordered that as from 2010 the Maltese and Gozitan people pay it €182,192 daily stolen from your childrens mouths
We shall get back our lost freedom
By the Campaign for National Independence CNI
It
is useless that yesterday we remembered Freedom Day
* if we did not understand that we need to sacrifice ourselves again
* to get back our freedom that six years ago we sold to the European Union.
Because after we became members in the Union,
* we lost our right to conduct our affairs
* as decided every five years by the majority,
* and lowered our heads to be ruled
* according to the majority of the European Union foreigners,
* even though it will not be according to the will of our people.
How we are no longer free to conduct our affairs
* we will better understand when we mention the changes that are not in the interests or our people
* in the arrangements for Frontex made lately by the European Union,
* when we remind you in the Union decision of a few weeks ago
* on the stopping of fishing for tuna against the will of the Government of Malta
* and damaging to our country,
* and when we forget the measures that the Union took against us
* to prevent spring hunting,
* against that which the Government of Malta prior to Union membership
* had bound itself should happen.
We
would be deceiving our people to tell them that we are free
* when our government cannot conclude a commercial agreement with foreign countries,
* once the European Union does not allow it to make it,
* notwithstanding that the Government of Malta believes that the agreement would be beneficial to the people.
We would be deceiving the people if we make them understand
* that as long as our country is a member in the European Union,
* the will of the majority of the people can decide in a general election
* with what economic policy our country will be managed,
* when it is the Union that decides the economic policy that every government that we have shall have to accept.
We
would be deceiving ourselves if we brag that we are free
* when the European Union does not allow us to help our industries as is best for us to do,
* when it imposes upon us how to tax the products and services that we buy,
* when it insists that the Government removes all subsidies to essential services,
* when we cannot control the entry into our country of illegal immigrants if not as wanted by the Union, and
* when we are forced to require the Visa so that our neighbouring and friendly people can come to our country,
* not to protect our people,
* but because the Union insists that we do so.
After
understanding that we are no longer free,
* we have to guard against those who tell us
* that we cannot do anything to get back the freedom that we lost
* with membership in the European Union,
* or that it is not in our interests to leave it.
It is not true that we cannot leave.
(See this Europen Parliament video that we can leave)
![]()
It is not true that it is not better for us to leave to be free again.
All we have to have is the strong will
* to detach ourselves from the European Union rule
* and the sense and wisdom that was shown by those before us
* when the people sacrificed themselves to be redeemed from the foreigner,
* and worked ceaselessly for this holy aim to succeed.
Freedom
is not acquired by vain words.
It is won by suffering and perseverance,
and by putting aside personal interests
for the honour of our people.
The European Union increases poverty
The economic and financial crisis that many European Union countries found themselves into is caused by the wrong economic and financial policy that the Union embraces and imposes upon the countries members in the Union.
But the Union does not want to admit that its policy has failed, and the Union intends to continue with the same policy that is hurting many millions of families in the countries in crisis.
The European Union’s economical and political policy

*
caused bad effects even on the biggest Union countries,
* such as Germany,
* France
* and the United Kingdom,

*
but it caused to the smaller countries,
* such as Spain,
* Ireland,
* Greece
* and Portugal,

*
much more disruption,
* and to the countries that became members in the Union these last few years,
* such as Hungary,
* Latvia
* and Lithuania,
set them aback even much more.
The
policy of free trade
* and of the free movement of capital
* implemented by the European Union
* brought more than 23 million workers without work in the Union
* due to the closure of many factories
* and the increase in importation of many products
* that were previously manufactured in factories in the Union countries,
* and this widespread unemployment brought with it a decrease in tourism
* and employment in the tourism sector.
According
to the Catholic organization Caritas,
* in the European Union countries
* there are presently 80 million persons in danger of poverty
* and are to increase to 100 million
* as an effect of the present economic and financial crisis.
In
our country,
* during the years since we have become members in the European Union,
* we have suffered bad consequences
* of the economic
* and political policy of the Union,
* because many factories have closed down,
* thousands of jobs were lost,
* exports went down,
* the tourism industry has receded during the last two yeas,
* while the financial situation has worsened
* because the national debt continued to increase every year.
According to the
last Labour Force Survey for the three months of
* July, August and September 2009,
* there were 11986 unemployed persons in our country.

According
to a recent survey by Caritas,
* the danger of poverty also increased in our country
* that is implementing the economic
* and financial policy of the European Union
* because the wages,
* the pensions
* and the social benefits
* did not increase in step with the cost of living,
* with the higher water and electricity tariffs,
* with the increase in the price of gas,
* the higher cost of medicines,
* the increase in rent,
* while 42% of our youths tat finish their secondary education
* find themselves roaming around in our streets without work.

To
fight the economic and financial crisis
* the European Union is sustaining its mistaken policy
* that increases poverty
* by insisting that he expense
* on social services and health be reduced.
But
the good policy is that which provides work
* that will be of social benefit to those who are unemployed,
* and to have a mimimum wage that is fitting for the present high cost of living,
* as well as increasing the benefits for those who cannot work.
This is the policy that can succeed if the country has the political will to implement it, whatever the European Union says.
Although the Maltese Government appears not to want to detach itself from the mistaken policy of the European Union,
* the mass of the people fell the great crunch of the free market policy
* that the liberalization of commerce and privatization have brought
* and that led the Union countries to the crisis that they are in,
* with the millions of unemployed and greater millions in danger of poverty.
This is the best certificate of the failure of the European Union
* that while it assures that a few selected sectors become richer,
* it reduces many other sectors to poverty,
* mostly the small and medium sectors,
* that are the mass of the people.
It is better for us to leave the Frontex agency

Like
Schengen, Frontex is bad for us.
CNI always sustained
* that the Frontex agency established by the European Union
* was not beneficial for Malta
* if it does not stop the illegal immigrants
* and pushes them back.
Now
that the European Union has decided
* that all the illegal immigrants
* have to be taken where the Frontex mission is hosted,
* which means Malta,
* everyone agrees with the CNI
* that it is better for Malta to leave Frontex.
It was a great mistake that we became members in Frontyex and a greater mistake
tat Frontex will be hosted in our country.
We have always said that the European Union does not look at the illegal immigrants as we see them in Malta, because the Union wants them because it needs them to make good for the reduction in population, while we in Malta cannot accept them because our population is too big for the small size of our country.
The
Maltese Government was right when in 1971
* it signed the Refugee Convention
* insisted that part of it does not apply to Malta,
* because our small size and the country shortcomings
* do not permit us to welcome refugees.
The
Maltese Government made a great mistake
* that during the negotiations for membership in the European Union
* submitted to the Union ransom
* that did not want our country to become a member
* if the Maltese Government does not also accept
* the part of the Refugee Convention
* that in 1971 had held not suitable for Malta.
The
mistake that the Government made
* when it submitted to the European Union ransom
* opened the door for the invasion that our country has suffered
* from thousands of illegal immigrants.
Following that, the Maltese continued to make one mistake after the other.
First it accepted to observe the rules that the European Union made so that illegal immigrants be considered as refugees.
It accepted the changes that he Union wanted it to make in the law
* so that the immigrants that were not in Malta with permission
* would no longer be considered as illegal but only irregular.
It
accepted what the Union wanted it to do,
* not to allow the illegal immigrants to go from our country
* to the other Union countries.
It accepted what the Union decided that the illegal immigrants,
* after a little time in detention centres,
* will be freed,
* be given financial help
* and can find work.
It
accepted to encourage illegal immigrants to integrate themselves into Maltese
society.
The result of all these mistakes
* is the crisis that we have of thousands of illegal immigrants in our country
* burdening our health,
* social
* and security services,
* apart from the financial burden that they impose,
* and the social upheaval for our people.

Notwithstanding
the crisis that we have,
* the Prime Minister,
* in the European Union Council,
* instead of insisting that the European Union
* allows the illegal immigrants who are in our country,
* go to the big Union countries,
* did not even have the courage to vote against
* that all the immigrants that are found in the middle of the Mediterranean be brought to Malta,
* instead of the nearest port.
And the European Union,
* instead of helping us to solve the crisis that we have
* decided to change the Frontex regulations
* to increase Malta’s crisis.
That is why the people are right to shout
* to leave Frontex
* and that in the illegal immigrants issue
* we do what protects the interests of our people
* not that which is looked favourably by the European Union.
We should remove the Visa for Libyans
Like
Frontex, Schengen is very bad for Malta.
The
European Union imposed them both on us following membership,
* not for our benefit,
* but for it to control us more
* and reduce our sovereignty.
The issue between Libya and the Schengen Zone countries
* showed us what damage we can suffer
* by being bound with the Schengen rules
* that force us to obey that which another country decides
* without considering the bad consequences
* that its decision will bring on us.
For five weeks after Libya on 15 February closed its doors to the Schengen citizens, hundreds of Maltese citizens passed through great trouble not knowing whether they are going to lose for ever their work and investment in Libya.
The
British,
* Irish,
* Cypriots
* and Bulgarians
* did not pass through this trouble
* and could go to Libya as much as they wanted,
* because their leaders had the wisdom
* not to become Schengen members,
* notwithstanding that like us they are members in the EuropeanUnion.
With Schengen Malta does not gain anything.
It is losing.
That is why it is better for us to leave Schengen in the same manner as it is better for us to leave Frontex.
When we leave Schengen,
* we will again control the passports of whoever enters Malta
* and the merchandize that we import from the Schengen countries.
Thus, we protect better our people, not as we are presently, without any control on whoever and whatever is coming from the Schengen countries.
The issue between
Libya and the European Union countries that are in Schengen
* should open our eyes to another need,
* the need to remove the Visa requirement
* for Libyans to come to Malta
* and us to go to Libya.
This
requirement was imposed upon us by the European Union upon membership.
Previously, no Maltese Government felt the need to introduce the Visa for Libyans to come here.
Neither presently is the need felt for this, and therefore we should remove the visa between Malta and Libya.
If we remove the visa for Libyans, we again show them that we want to strengthen our friendship that was reduced because of our membership in the European Union does not make good for the loss that we suffer if we reduce our friendship with Libya.
Therefore it is in our national interest to remove the visa for Libya and they remove it for us.
Apart from removing the visa for Libyans, it is also in our interest to again conclude a commercial agreement that we had before becoming members in the Union, and which the Union forced us to repeal with the membership agreement.
We lost many advantages that we had with the Libyans both on work and employment, as well as commerce and investment in Libya.
The commercial agreement with Libya is not damaging for our membership on the
European Union and the Union insisted for the agreement to be
repealed
for political reasons and for no other reason.
Presently, many European Union countries, among them Italy and Germany, hurry to make commercial agreements with the Libyans as we Maltese had before.
It is in the interests of our people that we again win the trust and friendship that membership in the European Union made us lose.
After all, the European Union presently is no longer objecting to a commercial
agreement between Malta and Libya because the same Union on 24 March concluded
an agreement that brings forward the dialogue between the Union and Libya on the
political, economic and social sectors.
